Escandell e Werner a podio nelle due gare di EMX125 del GP del Portogallo (IT-EN)

Escandell e Werner portano le loro Fantic XX 125 al secondo e al terzo. Buona prova del giovanissimo Niccolò Mannini. Nell’EMX250, weekend sfortunato per Werner mentre Valk con caparbietà resta in contatto con i primi in classifica.

La pista di Agueda in Portogallo ospita il quinto round del Mondiale Motocross 2023. Tom Guyon è ancora fermo, a causa dei problemi fisici che lo stanno tenendo lontano dalle gare, ma il suo rientro è previsto per la prossima settimana nel GP di Spagna. A scendere in pista i ragazzi dell’Europeo 125 e 250.

EMX125

Nelle qualifiche della ottavo di litro Elias Escandell trova una buona prestazione che gli consente di ottenere il quarto tempo, Max Werner non riesce a trovare un buon feeling con la pista e si deve accontentare del 19° tempo. Allo start di gara 1, il tedesco è un fulmine, portandosi subito al sesto posto. Nei primi giri, con una condotta votata all’attacco, scala la classifica raggiungendo il quarto posto ma, a causadi qualche errore di troppo, perde alcune posizioni concludendo all’ottavo posto. Lo spagnolo si prende subito la seconda piazza, mantenendola fino alla fine con una gara costante. In gara 2, ancora un’ottima partenza per Werner che si inserisce subito nelle posizioni nobili della classifica. Il nr 494 del team Fantic Racing MX, con una grande prestazione, taglia il traguardo al terzo posto, dopo aver raggiunto anche la seconda. Partenza non facile per Elias Escandell che perde diverse posizioni, costringendolo a una gara di recupero. A pochi giri dalla fine, un errore lo ha rimandato indietro facendogli perdere altro tempo. Alla fine, lo spagnolo chiude 13°. Max Werner grazie a due ottime prestazione chiude al terzo posto in classifica di giornata. Nella classifica del Campionato Europeo, ora Escandell è terzo e Werner quarto. Buona la prova del giovane pilota toscano Niccolò Mannini: il 14enne conclude gara 1 in diciottesimo posizione e gara 2 all’undicesimo, sua migliore prestazione europea, per un bottino totale di 13 punti e una 13ma posizione di giornata.

EMX250

Nella 250 i due portacolori del Fantic Factory Mx faticano durante le qualifiche non trovando la prestazione per ottenere le posizioni di vertice ma hanno comunque concluso nella top ten con Fueri settimo e Valk ottavo. In gara 1, Alexis Fueri e Cas Valk partono molto bene e nel corso del primo giro riescono a portarsi rispettivamente al quarto e quinto posto. Alexis ha mantenuto la posizione per gran parte della manche e solo nel finale ha dovuto lasciare strada ad alcuni suoi avversari chiudendo al sesto posto. Cas ha invece faticato nella prima parte di gara e solo nel finale ha potuto ritornare su in classifica finendo alle spalle del compagno di squadra in settima piazza. Seconda manche non facile per i piloti del team Fantic Racing MX: Fueri per un banale problema tecnico è stato costretto al ritiro. Valk non è riuscito a trovare il feeling con la pista portoghese faticando a trovare il ritmo gara. L’olandese comunque ha cercato di limitare i danni ed ha chiuso all’ottavo posto con la sua Fantic XX 250. Questo gli ha permesso di non perdere troppi punti in classifica generale, che ora lo vede al quarto posto.


Marco Maddii: ”Un fine settimana non dei migliori per il nostro team ma sono molto contento per il podio conquistato da Werner, adesso siamo terzi e quarti in campionato e non troppo lontano in classifica, le gare sono ancora tante e possiamo recuperare. Nella 250 sia Cas che Alexis non hanno trovato il giusto feeling su questa pista oggi ci mancava qualcosa per poter stare con i primi.”

Escandell and Werner on the podium in the two EMX125 races of the GP of Portugal
Escandell and Werner took their Fantic XX 125s to second and third. A good performance by young Niccolò Mannini. In the EMX250, an unlucky weekend for Werner while Valk stubbornly stayed in touch with the leaders.
The track of Agueda, Portugal, hosted the fifth round of the 2023 Motocross World Championship. Tom Guyon is still recovering and for this reason, missed the GP but his comeback is expected next week at the GP of Spain. The riders of the 125cc and 250cc of the European Championship got to the track.

EMX125

Elias Escandell registered a solid performance in the qualifying race and set the fourth-fastest time. Max Werner did not find a satisfying feeling with the track and had to feel happy with the 19th position.

Max Werner stretched away at the start of Race 1 and moved to sixth place. During the race, he was the author of several storming laps that took him to fourth position. A few mistakes affected his result, and he lost ground, dropping to eighth. Elias Escandell reached second place and kept that same position after a very good race.

Excellent start of the second moto for Max Werner. The German rider reached the top of the standings and, thanks to a great performance, moved to second but eventually classified third. Tough start for Elias Escandell, who lost several positions and was also affected by a mistake while he was working his way up. Elias qualified in 13th place.

Thanks to two excellent performances, Max Werner finished his race in third place on the day. In the European Championship classification, Escandell is third and Werner fourth.
A good performance by the young Tuscan driver Niccolò Mannini: the 14-year-old finished race 1 in 18th position and race 2 in 11th, his best European performance, for a total score of 13 points and a 13th position on the day.

EMX250

In the 250cc, the two representatives of the Fantic Racing MX team could not find the right moment to reach the top but still made it to the top ten. Fueri was seventh and Valk eighth.

The start of the first heat was very solid for both Alexis Fueri and Cas Valk, who were fourth and fifth after the first lap. Fueri kept the position for most of the race but was overtaken by rivals and ended up sixth. Valk struggled a bit in the first part of the heat and recovered almost at the end of it, qualifying seventh behind his teammate.

The second race was challenging for the riders of the Fantic Factory Mx, as Alexis Fueri was forced to retire because of a technical issue. Cas Valk did not find the right feeling with the Portuguese track and, consequently, the most suitable race pace. Cas did his best and finished eighth.

Cas Valk is now fourth in the Championship standings, close to the podium and the first riders.


Marco Maddii: “This wasn’t such a great weekend for our team, but I’m very happy with Werner’s podium. Actually, we’re in third and fourth position in the Championship and not too far in the standings. We still have many races ahead for us to recover. In the 250cc, Cas and Alexis couldn’t find the right feeling with the track, and today something was definitely missing for us to be among the top riders”.
